Vegetarian dishes are taking the dish by storm and when I discovered Veggie Grill, I totally understood why. The dishes at Veggie Grill are completely vegetarian (and vegan). I was super excited about this, for everything on the menu seemed delicious. I ordered the Koreatown tacos. They took a long time to come, but they were yummy! The two tacos were overfilling with veggies and Veggie Grill's 'chicken'. The other dish I would definitely recommend is the Mediterranean super green salad. Every bite was a flavor party in my mouth. This salad had tons of different components, from falafels to two amazing Mediterranean sauces. This dish took salad to a whole nother level. The only thing that wasn't pleasant was the tofu poke bowl. Poke bowls should only be reserved for fish. The tofu dish was sour on sour. I did not enjoy it. Other than that though, Veggie Grill has outstanding vegetarian dishes and I can't wait to eat there again!
We had just finished visiting the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco and were famished after a morning full of walking around. Thankfully, we saw a food truck called Sam's Chowder Mobile and well, I've never been one to turn down clam chowder. I ordered the lobster roll with calm chowder. The roll itself was buttery and crunchy. This paired perfectly with the succulent lobster. Mmm yum.
As for the calm chowder, it was amazing as expected. The soup came with crackers which was a great plus. The excellent lobster roll and calm chowder from Sam's Chowder made it a very awesome experience.
I recently discovered this delicious crunchy vegetable called jicama. It's healthy and versatile. You can eat jicama raw and spiralized or make it into a hash brown. Don't those jicama hash browns sound and look yummy? You can even make them the night before, so your breakfast will be super easy. Well don't worry I'll tell you how to make them.
The ingredients you'll need are:
-1/2 sweet onion
-2 garlic cloves pressed
So first what you'll need to do it peel and grate the jicama. Then, chop up the onion and add the onion and the garlic to the bowl. Mix it well and store in the fridge if you're making it the night before. When you're ready to cook up the hash browns in the morning, just add two eggs and form the hash browns. Make sure the pan is very well oiled in order to make the hash browns extra crispy.
If you're ever in the city and craving high end dim sum, Yank Sing is the restaurant for you. This restaurant has an assortment of yummy dishes. First, I would recommend the shao long bao. These are little dumplings filled with a delicious broth. Also, a dish that I always order at a dim sum place is the shrimp noodle roll. They truly are amazing. Speaking of seafood, we ordered the honey sea bass. The fish was super tender and the sauce that accompanied it was divine.
Now for the star of the meal: the duck. This dish came with succulent duck, crispy skin, and fluffy wraps. Put that all together and you've got a super awesome duck wrap. The duck was definitely the highlight of the meal. To wrap the meal up, we got egg custard tarts. These pastries are my life. The crust is flaky with a silky filling. Mmmm. To (dim) sum it up, Yank Sing is the place to go.
Sonora Taqueria is just one of many awesome Mexican restaurants in San Rafael. As we were deciding what to order, we snacked on the complimentary chips and salsa. I love how restaurants provide that :P I ended up deciding on the carnita burrito. The burrito was a bundle of deliciousness with rice, beans, and flavorful carnitas. Also, we ordered some tacos, chicken and fish, because well who doesn't like tacos?? Every bite of their tacos were amazing and left me wanting more. Then to douse it all down, we got some chicken soup. The stock was infused with tons of flavor and the chicken was super succulent. To sum it up, the food at Sonora Taqueria will satisfy your Mexican food cravings.
