What Japanese restaurant has a wide assortment of meat and broth to choose from? One of the best I know of is Shabuway, a shabu-shabu restaurant in Richmond. First of all, a shabu-shabu restaurant(in case you didn't know) has Japanese dishes that involves boiling meat and vegetables in a hot pot. Now, if you order a lunch special, you get to choose two appetizers and a type of meat for one great price. The karaage and gyoza seemed worth choosing and that was not a mistake! The karaage is a type of fried chicken(I mean, who doesn't like fried chicken?!). Plus, the gyoza was perfect. I just loved the flavors of it. As for the other half of the lunch special, we decided to get American Kobe, also known as beef. The broth we used was half spicy miso and half seaweed broth. Both of them were spot on. In addition to that, we ordered lamb because a family of four can't just feed on a few slices of meat. To wrap it up, Shabuway is a magnificent shabu-shabu place that's a wonderful place for family to get together and boil food. :)

Aurora serves some of the best Italian food in Novato. Come to think of it, why is it called Aurora? I think it's because the food smelled so good it woke up Aurora(aka Sleeping Beauty) from her deep sleep, but that's just a guess. So anyway, the first dish we ordered was the capalini, which by the way is a clam dish. I absolutely loved the flavoring of the clam. The clam broth also tasted amazing. They give you bread before the dishes so dipping that bread in the clam broth is a-okay. In addition to that, the gnocchi al piacere with sauce is another dish I recommend. Gnocchi is a type of pasta, made from potato, that is chewy. As long as Aurora puts meat sauce on something, it will taste fabulous. In fact that brings me to the next dish, rigatoni al sugo di carne with meat sauce. If you don't like more doughy pasta, then rigatoni is for you. A tubed shaped pasta is great for holding meat sauce. After all of that and you still don't see anything you like, just go with a pork tenderloin. This restaurant sure puts the tender in tenderloin. Plus, I thought the mushrooms helped elevate the dish. All in all, Aurora is a 4 star Cute Diner rated Italian restaurant. 
Have you ever craved for some food in your life that is just plain awesome? If you have, I've found it for you, golden wafer cookies. Make them and they will be gone even before the chance the cookies cool down. To begin with, preheat the oven to 350 Fahrenheit.
With just a few simple ingredients you can make magic:
In a mixing bowl, combine the butter and sugar with an electric mixer. Keep stirring until the butter mixture in nice and fluffy. Next, beat the egg and vanilla extract in. Then, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Pour that bowl in the butter mixture and combine well. Scoop about 1 teaspoon of cookie batter(for each cookie) onto the cookie tray. Be sure to leave a generous 2 inch space between each cookie. Bake these cookies for 12-15 minutes or until the edges become golden, but if you used coconut sugar like me, until the whole cookie becomes golden.
If you want food so good it makes your heart flutter around like a bird, visit The Hummingbird, located at Fairfax. For starters, I think the most famous dish Hummingbird serves is the fried chicken and waffles. As a result from that, we just had to order not one but two plates of it. I absolutely loved it!!! The chicken was tender and had a crispy outside, and don't even get me started on the waffles. They were fluffy and amazing. I found small herbs in the waffle batter and thought that was some genius seasoning. In fact, I think that dish was my favorite(and I didn't even order it!) What I did order was the silver dollar chocolate pancakes and I gotta say, they did not disappoint. Putting powdered sugar and syrup makes these pancakes even more fabulous. And well, let's not forget about the chocolate chips they incorporated into the batter. Mmm, chocolate. The last main dish I wanted to talk about is the everything gumbo. What's not to like about gumbo? This gumbo was really flavorful. The staff must have known I was coming because there was shrimp. Jso we're on the same page, I looooove shrimp. The last dish we were able to savor was the beignets. The beignets were also excellent, especially with loads of that powdered sugar. Overall, The Hummingbird is THE wonderful place to go to enjoy fried chicken and waffles(and other dishes too, but you must try the chicken and waffles!) After about a month of spending time with my Taiwanese family and experiencing the culture in Taiwan, it was time to go back home. Taiwan had many wonderful places like New CB Party and Perfume Dance. I already miss my family and can't wait to go back again!!
Signed, The Cute Diner Eating all of this Chinese food in Taiwan made me feel homesick for some more American food. As a result from this, we went to a restaurant called Skylark, a California Cuisine. Everyone was able to choose a lunch set with various yummy dishes. The salads came first. I ordered the egg salad with thousand island dressing. There were only a few pieces of egg, but I enjoyed the dressing. Another dish I thought was interesting was the fried catfish salad. If you liked fried fish, this wonderful salad is for you. After the salad portion came the soups. The clam chowder was divine. With clams in the shell(I always think that looks fancy) and great seasoning, this bowl of soup reminded me why clam chowder is my favorite overall soup. As a matter of fact, the corn portage made it's way to my heart as well. The best part was the puff pastry. You can dip the pastry in the soup or splurge on it after you drank the soup(I personally prefer this method). In addition to that, Skylark gave out bread. The garlic bread was the best. Then, after a feast of food, comes the main course. The cheese pork with arrabiatta spaghetti was amazing. The cheese pork was tender and had a delicious layer of cheese. An old Cute Diner proverb states that as long is you put cheese on something, it will taste great. :P Plus, the spaghetti was a fabulous accompaniment. Warning, it is however a little spicy. Onto drinks, I recommend the passionfruit drink for all the sour lovers out there. Also, the iced fruit tea was another satisfactory fruit drink Skylark serves. Last but never least, it's time for dessert! Soft, addictive, and flavorful all describe the honey and lemon chiffon cake. Here's a tip, eat it with the whipped cream they put on top. Given these awesome dishes, Skylark can cure any case of food homesickness for America.
