I'm super fortunate to be Taiwanese and constantly visit restaurants like Cafe Taiwan for their super delicious and authentic Taiwanese food. To start off, I really liked their rice cake with peanuts. This is a unique Taiwanese delicacy that is amazing!! Another dish special to Taiwanese cuisine is the Pingtung meatball. It has a gelatinous outside with yummy meat and veggies inside, all slathered in a yummy red sauce. Another dish I usually order is the beef noodle soup and Cafe Taiwan's version is great. I also enjoyed their mi tai mu. These noodles had a wonderful texture and flavor to them. The last little dish we got was the sausage over rice lunch box. With all these awesome dishes, visiting Cafe Taiwan for my regular Taiwanese fix was a super great idea.

Summer is a great time for barbecuing, but if you don't have a grill like me, you can go to restaurants who have barbecue, like Gogi Time. I really enjoy Korean barbecue and after visiting this restaurant, I grew to appreciate it more. Whenever I visit a Korean BBQ place, I always order the dak goi (chicken) and bul gogi (beef). These dishes are super tender and every bite is a burst of flavor. I literally cannot stop eating it. I would also like to give a shoutout to their complimentary appetizers. I especially enjoy the noodles and potatoes. It's a great way to start off the meal. Another dish we ordered was the soon dubu jigae. This tofu seafood soup is pretty good, full with tasty broth and silky tofu. Overall, Gogi Time is a fantastic place to visit if you want barbecue but don't want to cook it yourself.
Their prime rib is the best! It's sooooo tender, it literally melts in your mouth. The cut my dad ordered was the English cut, which is three thinner slices. This is said to absorb the au jus flavor better. This beef sauce is super duper flavorful. I had to control myself from licking all that sauce from my plate. Luckily, Hopr knows that people love their au jus so they give you Yorkshire pudding to mop up all the yummy sauce. Our prime ribs also came with a ton of sides. In addition to the Yorkshire pudding, we were given creamed spinach and the choice of mashed or baked potato. The spinach and mashed potato were super flavorful and creamy. As for the baked potato, I would recommend it. Our waitress dumped bowls of toppings onto the baked potato and well, lots of toppings= yummy potato. Perhaps the most mouthdropping side was a complimentary second serving of prime rib. I think all these sides are great because each dish is around $45, so it makes it worth it. Our visit to House of Prime Rib was an unforgettable experience with succulent, melt in your mouth prime rib and fabulous sides. You'll definitely be in a food coma for the following week ;) My family was eating lunch in Petaluma with a friend and he recommended coming to Sax's Joint. He definitely had a great taste in restaurants. From it's awesome decorated atmosphere to huge pancakes, Sax's Joint is the diner to go to. Since I love French toast, I ordered the Elvis. This dish consists of French toast, peanut butter, and bananas, all of Elvis' favorites and now mine too. The Elvis is a winning combo. I could eat it everyday. Another French toast dish we ordered was TT's famous French toast. With fluffy bread and a yummy berry whip, I can see why it's famous. Now you can't eat at a diner and not order chicken and waffles. Their chicken is super crispy and goes well with their fluffy waffles. This is yet another amazing combo! Lastly, we ordered The Joint for everyone to share. We definitely underestimated the size of this colossal pancake. It's huuuuuge! I'd like to see the chef flip this massive pancake. We barely made a dent in it and took the rest to go. I left Sax's Joint super full and satisfied with all their amazing brunch items.
Happy Summer y'all! I'm officially on summer break yayay! To celebrate, we went to John's for the best summer treat ever, ice cream! First off, let's take a moment to appreciate that each scoop is only $1.50. This is a great deal for super yummy ice cream. I ordered lemon meringue and my sister got caramel. I really enjoyed the lemon meringue, it wasn't too tart and had small cookie bits embedded within the ice cream. It was a fantastic way to start off summer vacation! Whenever I'm craving Vietnamese cuisine, I usually resort to my fave, Pho Viet
http://www.cutediner.com/diner/pho-viet-san-rafael-ca However, I was feeling adventurous and decided to branch out and try another restaurant. At Saigon Village Restaurant, I ordered the BBQ chicken with vermicelli. There was a heaping serving of delicious chicken, and that's always appreciated. It did not disappoint. The dish that did disappoint was the seafood clay pot. It was way too spicy for my taste and that overpowered everything. Now of course, since this was a Vietnamese restaurant, we had to order pho. The pho dish was the special combo with thin steak slices, brisket flank, tendon, tripe, and beef balls. This dish was super yummy! I think the lesson learned here is that pho is always good, no matter what restaurant it's from hehe. |
