If you want the real East coast bagel experience, go to Bruegger's. I actually saw people making the bagels! That was pretty cool. I decided to try the smoked salmon bagel. This was a great combo and I enjoyed every single bite. This bagel came with salmon, cream cheese, capers, and tomatoes. I customized it on an Asiago bagel because cheese is the best. I really enjoyed all parts of the bagel, and it was really filling. All of these factors contributed to a fantastic start of the day!

I went here with a new group of friends I met in Pittsburgh, and the food fueled us to have a great time. Condado Tacos has tacos already set with their combo of ingredients, but they also have the option to make your own. I went with the Dutch dragon, which had spicy portabella mushroom, cabbage, and the regular fixings like salsa and corn. The special thing about this restaurant's tacos is that they have a hard shell that's wrapped in a soft shell, held together by guacamole. I've never seen anything like this. You get two different textures with just one bite. It's truly a revolutionary idea. If you want to try something other than a taco, they also have a purple haze bowl. This bowl had tofu, red cabbage, and pickled onions. The pickled onions were a very nice touch and added depth to the dish. I would definitely go back to Condado Tacos to satisfy my taco cravings.
After a long flight to Pennsylvania (with a layover of course), we finally arrived in Pittsburgh. We were super tired so we ended up just eating at a restaurant in our hotel, the Westin. The burgers at Triple B were pretty good. I ordered the portabello mushroom burger. The mushroom was cooked tender and the balsamic vinegar was a nice touch, cutting through the rich burger with some acid. It was a yummy first meal in Pittsburgh.
I recently attended an environmental leadership event called Climate Reality in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This is a program founded by Al Gore to educate people and train them on how to spread awareness about climate change. From this training, I'm now one of 1,400 new Climate Reality leaders. In addition to my personal actions, I'm also presenting to high schoolers to educate the youth about climate change. I learned so much during the Climate Reality conference, and it was truly inspiring and life changing.
Of course, in the duration of my stay when I wasn't at the conference, I had to explore the city. It's super beautiful with lots of bridges. I also tried many different restaurants, so I'm excited to share that with you all! Stay tuned for more about Pittsburgh :) Signed, Cute Diner 1 whole hour. This is how long we waited for these drunken noodles from Liang's Thai Food, a food stand in downtown Denver. The stand is big enough to fit only one person in there. Therefore, he can only cook one dish at a time. The line was long and wait was agonizing. The final product was pretty good, but not worth the hour long wait. It was just your standard drunken noodles, nothing extraordinary about it. The only reason the lines are super long at Liang's is because the service is slow, not because the food is spectacular.
It was our last day in Colorado and we spent it in Denver. We took lunch to go from Corner Bakery Cafe in fear of missing our flight. This cafe reminded me a lot of Panera. They had a wide range of sandwiches, salads, pasta, and more. The deal I appreciated was the 'choose 2'. You can choose 2 of their dishes for 1 amazing price. I ordered the harvest salad and Southwest flatbread. The harvest salad is a yummy combination of of chicken, apples, dried cranberries, and crunchy croutons. The Southwest flatbread was pretty good too with corn, tomatoes, cheese, and chicken all wrapped in an amazing naan. As for my sister, she ordered the chopped salad with the chicken pomodori panini. The warm, cheesy combo of chicken, pesto, and tomatoes was a win for sure. The chopped salad was also enjoyable, it had all the components of a BLT. All in all, our last meal in Colorado did not disappoint. After walking around the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, the ranger informed us that there was a little town called Manitou Springs nearby that had awesome, authentic food. And well, we go where the food is :P PJ's Bistro caught my attention because I had never tried Polish food. I've heard good things about it, so we decided to eat here for lunch. This was a very smart choice btw. Experiencing Polish food the first time, we ordered Pj's platter with pierogis, cabbage rolls, and a choice of meat (we chose beef stroganoff). PJ's pierogis are the bomb! They have a creamy potato filling inside and a nice sear on the outside. It's very much like a Polish dumpling. The cabbage rolls were equally amazing as well. However, let's just take a moment to appreciate the beef stroganoff. It's sooooo delicous omg. All the seasonings in the sauce are perfect. All their meats were served over a potato pancake. The Hungarian goulash was no different, wonderful pork over a layer of potato at the bottom. It's very smart how the potato pancake is at the bottom because it soaks up all the wonderful juices. To top off an extravagant meal, the kind waitress gave us a crepe stuffed with berry cream. This too was yummy and devoured within seconds. Mmmmm. As I'm writing this, I'm considering spontaneously flying back to Colorado just to eat PJ's food again. That's how mouthwatering this whole meal was.
There was one type of food that we had not eaten in Colorado and that was Asian food. We found that Asian Bistro had an assortment of Asian food. They had sushi, Chinese food, bento boxes, and more. I checked in with Yelp and they gave us a free Vegas roll. It's a deep fried roll with salmon, cream cheese, and avocado. It was really good (probs cuz it was fried lol). It was a beef kind of night apparently becuase we ordered the Mongolian beef bento box and the beef with veggies. The beef with veggies had no flavor, but the Mongolian beef was enjoyable. On the vegetarian side, we ordered the veggie mushu. There was wayyyy too much soy sauce in it. It was good when I ate it, but after, my stomach hurt from all the sodium. Also, the mushu came with tortillas. Hmmm. The tortillas worked as a vessel to eat the mushu, but I was expecting the mushu pancakes. Asian Bistro has a lot of choices to satisfy your Asian food cravings, but in this case, it's quantity over quality.
After taking a tour of the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center (super awesome and inspirational btw), we stopped for dinner at Rasta Pasta. All their dishes are a blend of Jamacian and Italian flavors. It seemed like a combo too good to be true, so we just had to try it. All the dinner portions came with salad and garlic bread. Our waiter was super friendly and gave us all the salad dressings for us to try because we couldn't decide. My favorite one was probably the citrus vinaigrette. It added a lot of brightness to the salad. As for the main course, I ordered Chicken Montego Bay. This dish was composed of lucious alfredo sauce, tender jerk chicken, tons of veggies, annnndddd pineapples! I was surprised by how much the pineapple added to the dish. It was the secret ingredient for sure. I really 10/10 recommend the Chicken Montego Bay. You'll want to eat pineapple with every pasta dish from now on. My sister ordered the Natural Mystic, which had pineapple curry. It was a pretty good and unique dish. As for my parents, they split the Rasta Pasta. If you pay an extra $3, you can split a dinner portion to two lunch portions, which is a great deal! What wasn't that great tho was the actual dish. The sauce was wayyyy too spicy. Only order this if you can handle a lot of spice. If you can't, just order the Montego Bay, it will truly change your life. I can definitely see why this delicious food was featured on Triple D on Food Network.
