You have to come to Yojimbo with a huge appetite and stretchy pants because they are not kidding around. I've heard so many things about their humongous chicken teriyaki bento boxes that I just had to go try it out. When the monstrosity arrived, I figured out that all the reviews are not exaggerating it's size. This bento box is truly the biggest I've ever seen. The chicken flavor was pretty good, but not the best. I still enjoyed it though. The other dish we ordered was a ramen combo that came with two rolls. The rolls were delicious. The combo of eel and teriyaki sauce always make a winning roll. As for the pork ramen, the shoyu broth was super tasty and noodles were great. After eating our weight in food, my family of four still had leftovers! The tremendous portions are still amazing me even as I write this post. If you want to be as awestruck as me, head on down to Yojimbo to climb a mouth watering mountain of chicken teriyaki.

I wasn't really familiar with Burmese food until now, but I'm so glad to have discovered it. Burmatown is a delicious restaurant that helped me develop an appreciation for Burmese food. If you're a newcomer to Burmese cuisine like I was, you should start off with the platha. This yummy bread is made of flaky, yet chewy layers. The platha is a must have! In fact, the angel wings are also super yummy and crispy. They taste similar to kung pao chicken. We always order these two appetizers whenever we come. A dish I enjoyed was the chicken curry. It contains so many different amazing elements, from flavorful chicken to slurpicious noodles. The garlic noodles are also something you should try if you like noodles. I honestly love Burmese noodle dishes, so you can't go wrong with any noodle dish. However, if noodles aren't your thing, don't sweat it. A healthy Burmese dish you can order is the mango papaya salad. It's really refreshing to eat in the hot summer weather. The shrimp it comes with is a tad spicy though. And if you want seafood, their black cod is great with it's scrumptious miso glaze. The cod was very tender as well. If all Burmese dishes are like the ones at Burmatown, I can't wait for more food adventures in this cuisine! I'm super fortunate to be Taiwanese and constantly visit restaurants like Cafe Taiwan for their super delicious and authentic Taiwanese food. To start off, I really liked their rice cake with peanuts. This is a unique Taiwanese delicacy that is amazing!! Another dish special to Taiwanese cuisine is the Pingtung meatball. It has a gelatinous outside with yummy meat and veggies inside, all slathered in a yummy red sauce. Another dish I usually order is the beef noodle soup and Cafe Taiwan's version is great. I also enjoyed their mi tai mu. These noodles had a wonderful texture and flavor to them. The last little dish we got was the sausage over rice lunch box. With all these awesome dishes, visiting Cafe Taiwan for my regular Taiwanese fix was a super great idea. Summer is a great time for barbecuing, but if you don't have a grill like me, you can go to restaurants who have barbecue, like Gogi Time. I really enjoy Korean barbecue and after visiting this restaurant, I grew to appreciate it more. Whenever I visit a Korean BBQ place, I always order the dak goi (chicken) and bul gogi (beef). These dishes are super tender and every bite is a burst of flavor. I literally cannot stop eating it. I would also like to give a shoutout to their complimentary appetizers. I especially enjoy the noodles and potatoes. It's a great way to start off the meal. Another dish we ordered was the soon dubu jigae. This tofu seafood soup is pretty good, full with tasty broth and silky tofu. Overall, Gogi Time is a fantastic place to visit if you want barbecue but don't want to cook it yourself.
Whenever I'm craving Vietnamese cuisine, I usually resort to my fave, Pho Viet
http://www.cutediner.com/diner/pho-viet-san-rafael-ca However, I was feeling adventurous and decided to branch out and try another restaurant. At Saigon Village Restaurant, I ordered the BBQ chicken with vermicelli. There was a heaping serving of delicious chicken, and that's always appreciated. It did not disappoint. The dish that did disappoint was the seafood clay pot. It was way too spicy for my taste and that overpowered everything. Now of course, since this was a Vietnamese restaurant, we had to order pho. The pho dish was the special combo with thin steak slices, brisket flank, tendon, tripe, and beef balls. This dish was super yummy! I think the lesson learned here is that pho is always good, no matter what restaurant it's from hehe. If you're ever in the city and craving high end dim sum, Yank Sing is the restaurant for you. This restaurant has an assortment of yummy dishes. First, I would recommend the shao long bao. These are little dumplings filled with a delicious broth. Also, a dish that I always order at a dim sum place is the shrimp noodle roll. They truly are amazing. Speaking of seafood, we ordered the honey sea bass. The fish was super tender and the sauce that accompanied it was divine. Now for the star of the meal: the duck. This dish came with succulent duck, crispy skin, and fluffy wraps. Put that all together and you've got a super awesome duck wrap. The duck was definitely the highlight of the meal. To wrap the meal up, we got egg custard tarts. These pastries are my life. The crust is flaky with a silky filling. Mmmm. To (dim) sum it up, Yank Sing is the place to go. So this is a monumental post for me because I finally visited a restaurant that was featured on the TV show, Diners, Drive ins, and Dives. The Santa Cruz Diner definitely deserved to be on Food Network because their food is excellent! This diner has sooo many different dishes to choose from. There's Asian, American, vegetarian, and more. The dishes that were featured on Food Network were the pho and spring rolls, so of course we ordered both of them. The pho's broth was very unique, I had never tasted anything like it before. As for the spring rolls, they were super yummy! You have to dip it in the peanut sauce that comes with it because that sauce is heavenly. The spring rolls with peanut sauce were the highlight of my meal. The other dishes we ordered were the monte cristo, New York steak, and steak sandwich. The monte cristo had French toast for the bread and ooey gooey cheese and ham stacked in the middle. I thought the ham was too salty, but enjoyed the French toast. The New York steak and steak sandwich were both super tender and awesome. They were under $15 and great quality so I would recommend them. If you're ever in Santa Cruz, you should definitely visit the Santa Cruz Diner. It's Food Network and Cute Diner approved! An international wrap restaurant called World Wrapp just opened near me a couple months ago, so I just had to try it out! My first time at World Wrapp was an awesome experience. I do believe that the two p's in the name represent double the flavor and deliciousness :) My sister and I split a bulgogi beef nori wrapp and an island chicken teriyaki flatbread wrapp. The bulgogi beef was good, but it was the island teriyaki wrap that stood out to me. It was a mouth watering combination of chicken teriyaki, pineapple, carrots, and macadamia nuts. I definitely would recommend this wrap. Also, World Wrapp presses its flatbread wrapps every order, so the flatbread is super yummy. World Wrapp also serves bowls, much like how burrito bowls are offered in place of burritos at some places. The bowls are also packed with flavor. I especially enjoyed the Furikake Salmon Rice Bowl. Every bite of salmon tasted amazing and there was a ton of rice to accompany the protein. Everything you order at World Wrapp has a good rap ;) and will not disappoint, so go on down there for an awesome meal!
We're in the home stretch of winter. I can't wait for it not to be cold. One great way to fight off the cold weather is to eat at a hot pot restaurant. Hot pots come from Taiwan and starts with a boiling pot of flavored soup. I chose the healthy herd soup base with lamb meat. The meat you order is raw and you place it into the hot pot to cook along with the other food they provide with the meat. I absolutely love lamp in hot pots. It's super tender and awesome. Also, the veggies Little Hot Pot provides makes it a healthy meal. I really enjoy hot pots for they connect me with my Taiwanese roots and are really delicious to eat! So the next time you're feeling cold, head on down to Little Hot Pot in Fremont. First off, let me start by saying... IM SO SORRY FOR NOT POSTING. I recently started a YouTube and have mainly been focusing on that. You should check it out... ;) http://bit.ly/1ZfAtzA Anyways... I'm back and I'm definitely going to try to post more! So my family went out for a day in San Francisco. We shopped and hung out. It was nearing dinner time and we decided to go down to The House. This is a pretty popular restaurant in SF, so we had to wait around 40 minutes. I recommend going there earlier so the lines are shorter. However, the lines were most definitely worth it. The food was AMAZING with a capital everything. I love love loved all the dishes my family ordered. The House is on the pricier side, so I recommend going there for a celebration of some kind like Mother's Day. To start off the meal, we ordered the appetizer, avocado dungess crab cake. It was sosososos good. It had a wonderful medley of flavors. I recommend ordering this. A tip of advice is incorporating everything into one bite. Like get a little of this and a little of that. I'm not really sure how to describe it... but yeah, order it! Then for the main courses, we ordered wasabi house noodles with angus flat iron steak, grilled sea bass with garlic ginger soy, kurobuta pork chop with pomegranate currant sauce, and prime angus ribeye with house made teriyaki roasted garlic butter. The pork chop was the dish I ordered and I'm so glad I did. I stole little pieces from the other dishes my family ordered and the pork chop was the best, most outstanding dish. The meat was super tender and flavorful and that's not even the best part. The best component of the dish was the pomegranate current sauce. Wow, just wow. It was the perfect combination of sweet and a little acid. The house noodles were a close second though. My favorite type of noodles is thick chewy ones like the ones we got at The House. They were magnificent. They are a tab bit spicy so watch out for that. As for the ribeye and the sea bass, those were super delicious as well. I recommend all four of these main dishes. We didn't order dessert sadly because we were stuffed. The price for these dishes were not cheap, but at least they came with huge portions. All in all, I highly recommend that you give The House a visit for it's out of this world tasting food.
